Hal Rood, Executive Vice President

Hal Rood joined SRS as Partner and Executive Vice President in 2006 after nearly 10 years at Broadcast Architecture. Hal has worked in 25 countries, logged over 2 million flight miles and surveyed hundreds of thousands of listeners. He has provided strategic counsel to radio stations in US markets such as Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington and Miami.

Over the past 14 years, Hal has worked with some of the world’s most successful radio brands, including 104.6 RTL/Berlin, DC-101/Washington, Europa Plus and Retro FM/Russia, Virgin Radio and RFM/France, Sky Radio / Holland, Key 103/Manchester, 98FM/Dublin, Globo Radio / Brasil, and Europa FM and Radio 21/Romania.

After years as a station program director, Hal spent the early 1990s with VOA Europe, which provided startup assistance to private radio stations in the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe. Some of Europe's top radio executives started radio stations with that launch help!

Hal has direct format experience in CHR, AC and Hot AC. A second-generation radio broadcaster, Hal got into the business at 15 years old broadcasting football games. While attending Syracuse University, he programmed 100-watt WJPZ to the highest market share of any college station in the USA (and the second-biggest public station in the country), and fell in love with radio during those years.

He lives in the Boston area with his family and runs
marathons and road races with his wife to raise
money for cancer research.
